Door Operator Controller
Overview
Door operator controllers are the electronic drives that run the motor which opens and closes the car and landing doors. They set the speed profile, the torque limit and the reversal behaviour when the doors meet an obstruction. One Elevator supplies replacement door controllers and VVVF door drives for most elevator door operators, delivered pre-configured or as bare boards.
Applications
They are fitted in passenger lifts, hospital beds lifts, service lifts and freight elevators in residential blocks, office towers, hotels, hospitals and shopping malls, and suit OTIS, KONE, Schindler, Mitsubishi, ThyssenKrupp and Fujitec door systems. Because the doors cycle on every single trip, the controller sees more switching events than any other electronic part in the lift. Heat and vibration are what eventually kill it: electrolytic capacitors bulge once the door header sits above 40 C, and dry solder joints appear on lifts with a rough ride.
Types and Range
- VVVF door controllers for AC and permanent magnet door motors
- Replacement boards for DC and thyristor door operators
- Controllers with integrated light curtain and safety edge inputs
- Plug-in replacement units for obsolete operator models
- Parameter programmers, cables and commissioning tools
- Spare power modules, capacitors and cooling fans
Each unit is configured to your door type, centre opening or side opening, before dispatch.
Selection Guide
Choose by checking three things: the motor type and power rating, the supply voltage, and the feedback device the board expects (encoder, tacho or none). Also confirm the door opening width and the number of landings, since the speed profile is stored per floor. Never fit a board without re-commissioning the closing force, because the force limit is a safety setting and has to be measured after installation. Every unit is burned in for 48 hours and tested for output stability, thermal behaviour and reversal response.
Ordering and Lead Time
Most controllers ship within 10-15 days. Send us a photo of your existing board with the operator model, and we will confirm compatibility and quote within one business day.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I order the right door operator controller?
- Send a photo of the existing board with the operator model and the connector layout. Similar-looking boards often differ by version.
- Can a door operator board be repaired?
- Sometimes, but version matching is the bigger risk. A board with the right model number but the wrong firmware will not drive the door correctly.
- Do you supply a warranty?
- Yes – twelve months on the board. Send the model and a photo of the label and we will confirm the replacement before you order.
