Elevator Display

Overview

Elevator displays are the floor position indicators mounted in the car, at the landings or in the machine room, showing car position and travel direction. They are the most visible part of the lift to passengers, so a failed display generates complaints faster than almost any other fault. One Elevator supplies replacement displays, driver boards and the segment modules used in most elevator fixtures.

Applications

They are fitted in passenger lifts, panoramic lifts, hospital beds lifts and service lifts in residential blocks, office towers, hotels and shopping malls, and are made to fit OTIS, KONE, Schindler, Mitsubishi, ThyssenKrupp and Fujitec systems. Legacy 7-segment and dot-matrix units are still widely supported, since a single dead segment is enough to fail an inspection in some markets. Retrofitting a modern display is often cheaper than repairing an obsolete one. Where a lift has both a car indicator and a landing indicator, we recommend replacing both so the floor readings stay consistent.

Types and Range

  • 7-segment and 16-segment LED displays
  • Dot-matrix and graphic LCD displays
  • TFT and OLED displays for car operating panels
  • Landing indicators with direction arrows and gongs
  • Scroll and message displays for group control systems
  • Driver boards, ribbon cables and connectors

Display protocols are matched to the controller — serial, parallel or CAN bus.

Selection Guide

Order by checking three things: the display type and protocol, the mounting cut-out, and the supply voltage. Also confirm the character count the controller sends, since a 4-character board will not drive a 6-character display. For older lifts we can often supply a drop-in replacement that reuses the existing cut-out and wiring. Every unit is burned in for 48 hours and tested for segment continuity and brightness.

Ordering and Lead Time

Stock sizes dispatch in 7-10 working days; custom graphic displays take 2-3 weeks. Send your model number or a photo of the display and our team will verify fitment before you order.

Frequently asked questions

How do I order the right display?
Give us the model number, or a photo of the display with its cut-out dimensions, and confirm the communication type the controller uses.
Can a display be repaired instead of replaced?
Occasionally, but it is rarely economic. Segment and driver failures sit inside the module, so a replacement is faster than a bench repair.
Do you supply custom graphics?
Yes. Custom graphic displays take 2-3 weeks, while stock sizes dispatch in 7-10 working days.
