Door Vane

Overview

Door vanes are the steel blades mounted on the car door that engage the landing door lock roller, so the car door drives the landing door open and closed with it. The blade works in a narrow engagement window, so a small bend produces a large fault. One Elevator supplies replacement vanes, vane brackets and the adjustment gauges used to set them.

Applications

They are fitted on passenger lifts, service lifts and freight elevators in residential blocks, office towers, hospitals and shopping malls, and suit OTIS, KONE, Schindler, Mitsubishi, ThyssenKrupp and Fujitec door systems. A bent vane causes landing doors that open late, stop short or unlock unintentionally, so it is treated as a safety item. Most vane damage comes from a door obstruction rather than from wear. Because the vane is matched to the landing lock, we recommend ordering the vane and the lock roller together on older door systems.

Types and Range

  • Straight and cranked vanes for centre-opening doors
  • Vanes for side-opening and two-speed side-opening doors
  • Fixed and adjustable vane brackets
  • Vanes with rubber bumpers and anti-rattle strips
  • Locking vanes and release vanes for specific operators
  • Vane setting gauges and adjustment shims

Length and profile are matched to the landing lock engagement range.

Selection Guide

Choose by checking three things: vane length and thickness, the bracket hole pattern, and the door opening type (centre or side opening). Check the engagement depth after fitting, since the vane must hold the lock open through the full unlocking stroke. Vanes that have been straightened in place usually bend again, so replacement is cheaper than repair. Vanes are produced to EN 81-20 requirements and inspected for flatness and edge finish.

Ordering and Lead Time

Most sizes ship within 7-10 days. Send us a photo of your existing vane with the length and bracket centres, and we will confirm compatibility and quote within one business day.

Frequently asked questions

How do I match a door vane?
Give us the blade length, the bracket centres and the blade thickness. Send a photo of the existing vane with those dimensions marked.
Can a bent vane be straightened?
Not reliably. A straightened vane changes the levelling reference, so replacement is the safer option on a safety-related part.
Do you supply the mounting bracket?
Yes, vanes ship with the bracket. Tell us the door model if the bracket pattern differs from the standard.
