Step Roller

Overview

Step rollers are the small running wheels that carry each escalator step along the track and through the return curve. Each step runs on four of them, so a single escalator carries hundreds. One Elevator supplies replacement step rollers, chain rollers and the matching axles for most escalator and moving walk models, sold individually or as complete sets.

Applications

They are among the fastest-wearing parts on a transit escalator, and are replaced in metro stations, airports, malls and stadiums on OTIS, KONE, Schindler, Mitsubishi, ThyssenKrupp and Hyundai equipment. A failing roller is usually heard before it is seen, as a rhythmic rumble through the incline. Left in service, a seized roller flats, stops rotating and then damages the track it runs in. Roller condition should be judged by noise and temperature rather than by appearance, since a roller can look sound and still be failing.

Selection Guide

Confirm three dimensions before ordering: outer diameter, bore size and width. Then check the tread material — polyurethane runs quietly and grips well, while nylon lasts longer under high load but transmits more noise. Roller condition should always be judged as a set: replacing one worn roller in a row of worn rollers simply moves the noise. Every roller is balanced and tested for radial run-out, hardness and bearing clearance.

Stock sizes dispatch in 5-7 working days; full sets take 10 days. Send the roller diameter and bore, or simply the escalator model, and we will confirm fitment before you order.
